We are in that final push toward the end of school and things are busy, busy, busy!! Sometimes it seems as if we are meeting ourselves going around and around and around that 'circle'!! We have field trips and practice for end of school programs and we are all constantly battling to keep the students and ourselves focused and reminded that 'it ain't over yet'!!
We started out the year in first grade with a daily prayer for rain. At that time, our area had received only a small percentage of the average rainfall for the year and we were parched and dry. We witnessed our neighbors in Bastrop County and other places be ravaged by fire. We saw the levels of Lake Somerville drop to historic lows. And yet God is faithful and just and answers our prayers. The rain has fallen and for that we are thankful. In fact, we've had more rain in the first 3 months of 2012 than we had in all of 2011! I heard a prayer yesterday for it to dry out just a little bit! And I think that''s great. Our students are learning that they can talk to God about anything!
One of the things that makes First Baptist work is that we are a team. Teamwork starts at the top and works its way through our staff and even to our students. We have had massive amounts of rain in the past two days. Unbeknownst to us, our guttering system was clogged with leaves. And we had some leakage. Our administrator was on top of the roof helping clear the clogs. Our teachers pitched in and helped each other move furniture away from the walls. And our older students helped with the clean up inside.
I'm so thankful that I can work in such a place. It's a pleasure to get up and go to work each morning!
God bless you all.
